€17,70
Unit price  per

Bergeron grape variety (roussanne)

Single-plot vintage of around 6,000 bottles
Proserpina was a Roman deity, goddess of the seasons, germination, renewal and generosity.
AOP Savoie Wine

This plot of vines is perched at the very top of the large scree slope of the “Toises”, a narrow, vertical slope on the southern slope of the “La Savoyarde” mountain.

A vine full of sap, a deep and well-drained clay-limestone soil, very ripe grapes and a generous flesh with sometimes exotic accents: all the elements are combined for a Bergeron in the "full nature" style: fruity, fresh, simple, with the added bonus of a youth that takes nothing away.

This wine will be certified Organic Agriculture by Ecocert from the 2023 vintage.

WINE

The identity of this vintage can only be understood if we know where it comes from.
La Coulée de Proserpine comes from a single plot at the highest point of the place called "Les Toises", located on a narrow and vertical slope of the southern slope of the mountain "La Savoyarde. Planted on a scree of limestone, it is a vine of sap, full of vigor, which produces very ripe grapes (see tab "The vine"). Hence the gourmet aspect of this cuvée, with at the same time and without excess, all the freshness and fruitiness which characterize the Bergeron.

THE VINE

This vineyard is located at the highest point of the large scree slope of “Toises” (name of the place), a narrow and vertical portion of the southwest slope of the “La Savoyarde” mountain.
It draws all its generosity and strength from a deep, well-drained soil that encourages rooting, and where the vines easily find their space. It is a sap-filled vine, which produces very ripe grapes, with generous flesh sometimes with exotic accents. Less exposed (southwest) and more ventilated than the "Salins" and "La Perette" vines, the wine gains in sobriety.

When approaching, by the path called "Caton" passing at the foot of the hill, the view seems blocked by this cone of scree massively delimiting the western slope from the southern slope of "La Savoyarde" (name of the mountain): a topography which exposes the vines to natural ventilation favorable to the good health of the grapes.

The bottom of the cone ends without transition in the marshes of the valley. It is also on this lower part that the Cuvée parcellaire Roussette "Baron Decouz" is located, which in addition to this ventilation, also benefits from the morning humidity fog released by the marsh. Ambient contrast which is at the birth of the famous noble rot.

  • Density: 6000 plants/hectare
  • Soil: Clay-limestone scree.
  • Orientation: Southwest
  • Slope: 35 to 40%
  • Harvest: MANUAL – Same as the jacquère: from September 10 to 25 since 2016 (October 1 to 15 before 2000).
  • Organic farming with the introduction of biodynamic methods
  • Trellising: classic on wires
  • Age of the vines: 25 years
  • Yield: 40 hl/HA
